Mission

The College of Arts and Sciences encourages excellence in teaching through academic programs in the arts, humanities and social sciences by: Providing quality education to the under privileged sections of the society Imparting leadership qualities to dare new challenges Facilitating students to develop professional and life skills to enhance the employability Inculcating the importance of human and ethical values Promoting students ethical and intellectual development and capabilities through critical and independent thinking, reading, and communicating

Objectives

The programmes offered by the University aims at the ability to:

• Develop, through general knowledge gained in a wide range of subjects, insight into both self and society.
• Strive for the promotion and development of holistic personality of students
• Develop flexibility and clarity of both thought and expression in order to develop communications competence to a level required by business and industry.
• Develop confidence among rural students who otherwise consider themselves inferior to urban students
• Understand and utilize critical thinking processes and problem solving techniques.
• Examine and evaluate various aspects of our changing society to assist in developing a sense of personal and social responsibility as a citizen in society.
• Employ basic educational and vocational, skills drawn from the areas of the Humanities, Social and Behavioural Sciences.
